Lanark peaks at £4,500 for Muirmouth Ram Lamb

Top price of 4,500 for the Champion at the Society Sale at Lanark with 79 tup lambs averaging £440 (£40/head down on last year). Females were a fantastic trade too with gimmers averaging £486 (+£50/hd) and ewe lambs £405 (+£82). There were 9 ram lambs selling into 4 figures (compared to 6 the previous yr). Top price £4,500 for Sandy Haggart (Muirmouth) with Intock Invincible sired ram lamb out of Didcot Diddy Com sired ewe, selling to Keith Hourston (Didcot). It was a great day for Sandy and son Raymond who sold another 2 in the pen for £1500 (to Pete Brown & Tom Tennant) and £1100 (to Grant & Wright). Tom Nelson (Kilphin) also had a great trade with 2 in his pen into 4 figures - £2500 for Alticane Donald sired ram selling to Messrs Park & Baird, and £1500 for Intok Sandy sired ram selling to Jim Howie. Mary Laidlaw (Drennans) sold her Kinnimonth Kiwi sired ram to Robert & Sophie Whitcombe for £2,000  and Keith Hourston was bid £1,800 for his Lammermuir Star sired ram selling to Liberty Turner. Tom Tennant's Alticane Uncle Mo sired ram sold to Roddy Jones (Atok) for £1,500 and retiring President Neil Howie sold his Llan Lucky Strike sired ram to Guthrie, Mosside for £1,400.  Many thanks to our judge Jonanthan Aiken, our sponsors Lawrie & Symington and to all those buyers who have gone home with a Border Leicester, congratulations and good luck with your new purchase!
