The Scottish Sheep Strategy Group are running a free workshop focused on showing sheep farmers how to improve their margins by using rams with performance records. The Estimated Breeding Value workshop aims to demonstrate that a financial advantage of £5 per ewe tupped is achievable with no extra inputs (as proven in the focus farm trials run by the Scottish Sheep Strategy over a four year period). The Scottish Sheep Strategy's purpose is to increase the awareness, understanding and the uptake of breeding technologies in Scottish sheep production.
The workshop is on Tuesday 11th September at 7.30pm, at Spotsmains, Kelso, TD5 7RT by kind permission of John Mauchlen.
Bearing in mind we are having a talk from Alison Glasgow at our forthcoming AGM about Signet's Breed Improvement Programme, this would be a timely opportunity to find out more about how performance monitoring could improve your margins.
