Lanark Sale Averages Up

The Society Show and Sale at Lanark on 18th September saw a top price of £2,300 for the first ram lamb in the ring from Jackie Harrison (Lammermuir). This Alticane Arkle sired lamb out of a Drennan Cashline ewe was knocked down to Keith Hourston (Didcot). Also making 4 figures, was Keith Hourston's (Didcot) Ditton Distinctive sired ram, which sold for £1200 to Mrs HG Kirkpatrick (Rango), Keith's Gateside Glint sired lamb, which sold for £1150 to N Howie (Lyham) and D Walker's (Alticane) Atok Atomic sired ram, which sold for £1100 to Mr Shearer, Thurso.

Overall ram lambs sold 93 @ £336 (vs 95 @ £328 prev yr)

Gimmers sold 4 @ £315 (vs 18 @ £217 prev yr)

Ewe Lambs sold 9 @ £212 (vs 17 @ £191 prev yr)

The sale also saw the dispersal of the Hill Flock from Mr J E Taylor who first started his flock in 1959, when his Society membership cost only a shilling! Jim's gimmers averaged £330 and the ewes £275. An exciting opportunity for the bidders to aquire some legendary genetics! Congratulations Jim, and we wish you all the very best for your retirement.
